Panama is a relatively free country in comparison with Europe and US/Canada. The gun ownership and concealed carry is allowed including the self-loading rifles though the current government imposes strict restrictions on a private gun imports. But the ban will probably be lifted in the near future. There are no restrictions of free speech. Although there are several areas in Panama City and Colon suffering from a higher crime rates Panama is one of the safest countries in Latin America and the overall crime rate is fairly low.
